Sorry Elle, but Captain Britain/Brian Braddock is actor Kevin McKidd. Check him out in tv series Grey’s Anatomy, Rome or Journeyman. That’s near perfect casting, if I do say so myself.
I very much like Kevin McKidd (in fact I’ve mentioned him in the past as a good actor for Banshee). But if I cast him as Captain Britain, I’d have to recast Meggan. Hollywood may be comfortable with 40something men playing opposite 20something women, but I’m generally not. And honestly I just really want Hannah Murray as Meggan.
McKidd, especially as the kinda interpol man hunting Banshee would work so well.
If Kevin McKidd is Captain Britain then Sandra Oh can be Meggan because oh g-d can she emote.
Frankly it was a fantasy draft, I was imagining McKidd younger. He is old for Captain Britain now. McKidd is great at bullheaded alpha male Brits.
Hannah Murray is a good choice. I’ve only seen her as the servant girl on Game of Thrones, but have been impressed by the shading and depth Murray brings to that character.
Awesome Podcast! You guys are almost at podcast 100, are you gonna do another recap of the series like in 50 or maybe something else? A Q&A Maybe? That would be Radical.
There is a Kirby Sandman story entitled “The Seal Men’s War on Santa Claus.” Best of DC Digest #22.
First – Congratulations, Jay! I have no frame of reference for the challenges and joys which ahead of you, but I sincerely wish you all the best. I am excited for you and what 2016 holds for you.
Second – Jay and Miles,
My 2015 has been a shitshow, too. Thanks so much to you both for providing an hour of fun every week. If it were up to me, I would give you both a Corbeau for professionalism and positivity in the face of a difficult year.
Happy New Year to you both!
Kevin
Congratulations, Jay!
Thanks for another year of awesome podcasts. …X-Plain is always the first podcast I listen to each week.
Double thanks for recommending Fallen Angels! I bought it last week and thoroughly enjoyed it! I think FA didn’t catch on because it lacked a big-name creative team and popular characters. Jo Duffy did a great job writing Sunspot & Warlock, and the new characters were very original. Gamill & Co.drew in a clean house-style, not flashy but featuring good storytelling. I wish we’d gotten the sequel with the amazing Colleen Doran. Oh well…
That Saturnyne panel is phenomenal. And Kitty’s reaction to her is perfect.
OMG! Karen Gillan as Rachel is such a lovely idea!
I was so confused when I walked into my first comic store but I remember reading Excalibur but then I could not find it past the first 5 issues! But then Jim Lee’s X-Men happened and I was hooked!
