Just listened to Into It & love that Jay loves Rocketeer. When I trick-or-treated in Disneyland years ago I met a guy in the exact Rocketeer costume, helmet and all. Since I was dressed as Syndrome, geeking out over a old timey super was totally in character. In the theater, when it came out… I believe totally fueled my love of those movies which is why I was frustrated with so many that came after.
I missed it when it came out, but there’s a local theater that runs 35mm prints of old family movies every weekend during the summer, and I went to every showing of The Rocketeer, The Iron Giant, and Flight of the Navigator.
With at least two of those I think I’m spotting a trend in your tastes J. Rachel; The good hearted but otherwise fairly average kid coming into contact with a powerful alien “other” who has a limted understanding of humanity, but mostly aspires to do the right thing, and the relationship they build between them that allows them to do amazing things. Now who does _that_ remind me of in the X-verse I wonder? 😉
heh heh heh
Ah, Flight of the Navigator. Sarah Jessica Parker back in the day. After that The Beach Boys’ “I Get Around” was me & my brother’s traveling song for years. Best part of having kids, I get to occasionally force some old-school “culture” upon them. Flight of the Navigator, Never-ending Story, Dark Crystal…
Have you read “The Dark Crystal: Creation Myths” hardcover GN’s from Archaia? They are amazing!
I will surely check that out. Thanks.
Have really been enjoying the Secret Convergence crossover. It’s really fun and informative and has added several more titles to my to read list. Can’t wait for the finale!
Yup, Secret Convergence has been very enjoyable, and I think, once I’ve worked out who should be where when not teaming up, which of the couple of new podcasts I’ll be starting to listen to!
Yeah, like everyone else said, this has been tremendous fun. I’ve been an occasional listener to some of these podcasts before, but this was a really fun way to meet them and their hosts again. Thanks so much!
I know I’m late but thanks for putting this together I was trying to piece the order together and had listened to the end of one of the first few more than once before finding this. You guys rock, keep on being awesome.
