I love your pick of the week. Agent Carter is AMAZING! Unfortunately it is on at an inconvenient time for me, so I’ve had to watch at abc.com. I’m glad to see that there are others as enthusiastic about it as I am.
Amen to the Agent Carter love. Honestly in its five episodes it has becomes one of my favorite shows of all time. I’ll say if you were turned off by the lackluster Agents of Shield (as I very much was) Don’t let Agent Carter pass you up!
I’ve heard Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. gets much better after the first eight or so episodes, but I have yet to care enough to actually put that to the test. Agent Carter, on the other hand–oh, my god. Perfect.
I’ve been watching Agents of Shield while I exercise this month. It does feel to me like people have wildly overstated how bad it is, but so far it does only rarely rise over, “Eh, decent enough TV.” The recent episodes (I think I’m about 3/4s through the first season) have been quite good. They might even be as good as an average Agent Carter episode. 🙂
I quit watching halfway through season 1, but I picked it back up over the Christmas break and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with the back quarter of season 1 and what’s come so far of season 2. For me at least, it took more than 8 episodes for the show to become consistently enjoyable. But when it gets good it actually for real gets good.
Now that it’s been announced that Bendis is ending his run on the X-Men books, am I alone in wanting Hickman to be next? Oh and have a team that goes back to space for a long arc too!
As for Agent Carter I was one of the mentioned statistics, as I had not watched it until after this video.
Episodes 1-3 were decent. Better than SHIELD, but still just okay in my meager opinion. That 4th episode though, that hooked me.
While it started seemingly as another “doomsday device of the week” episode, I can honestly say I didn’t see that plot twist coming at all.
I’m hooked and I haven’t even gotten to the 5th episode which was met with such positive reviews this week.
I’m not sure Hickman writes women well (or, uh, at all). That’s a big issue if you’re going to write X-Men.
I do think he’d tell a KILLER Apocalypse story though, given his interest in Egyptian history/mythology/symbology: http://marvel.com/comics/issue/15883/legion_of_monsters_satana_2007_1
I was also hesitant about Agent Carter since Agents of SHIELD was so bad, but it’s been awesome. My ultimate fantasy is an Isaiah Bradley appearance.
I have not had time to catch up on Agent Carter because of working two jobs. However, my mother is addicted and I will try and marathon it over the weekend.
I really liked agents of SHIELD, especially season 2, but Agent Carter is stunningly good.
BUT, I don’t know any way for me to watch it legaly. I want to support it, but I live in Sweden. Tips?
I’ve been putting off watching Agent Carter to watch it all at once, but I will, for you, watch it all on hulu now.
Well not at this second b/c I have work to do. But I will play it on hulu on mute so that it looks like it’s been watched.
Actually, do they count viewership via hulu?
I think so?
According to a real quick glance at Google page 1, there’s verbiage to suggest that as of last quarter 2013, views from services like Hulu are being counted toward ratings. Couldn’t find anything more recent but it doesn’t seem likely it’d go back the other way, either…
As amazing as Agent Carter the show is, it’s only scheduled as an 8-episode mini. Should it come back as a full show? Yes, absolutely. In many ways, it’s superior to SHIELD (which picks up tremendously once it ties-in w/Winter Soldier, btw!)
As a comic crossover, has anyone been checking out Peggy & Howard Stark in Operation: Sin?
Wow. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. I almost always agree with your opinions about comics, but I don’t understand the love for Agent Carter at all. Granted, I haven’t seen the latest episode yet and I hear that my biggest problem with the series (Peggy’s continued on-the-nose interactions with her coworkers) is given a week off due to her Howling Commandos team-up. It’s certainly not a bad show and I’ll continue watching it through the 8-episode run, but it hasn’t grabbed me at all.
Okay. I watched episode 5 and I gotta say I really enjoyed it. They even fleshed out Chad Michael Murray’s previously one-note character. I’m definitely buying in more now.
