I am not sure how many of you know this, but the names of the rock trolls (Munson, Chambliss, and Nettles) are the names of three players on the 1970s Yankees. I don’t know if it was meant as an homage to the Yankees or as dig – the rock trolls DO seem pretty stupid – but I figured since Jay and Miles tend not to know much sports stuff, it might be worth leaving a comment for those who don’t know. (Since they DID explain pay phones and video stores, things that were still around ~15 years ago, they probably would’ve explained the Yankees reference from ~45 years ago, had they known it.) So there you go, people who wanted to know a sports thing but didn’t!
You’re absolutely right that Jay and I had no idea. Thanks for pointing out the neat reference – I love overlapping geekeries!
