I haven’t had the chance to read this series yet; I just ordered it last week in anticipation of this coverage and it hasn’t arrived yet. But, looking at the art, I can definitely see Kelly’s style and it looks like a case of the inker not knowing how to properly ink what was laid down or the they were trying to pull Kelly’s art closer to the Marvel house style. Looking at these panels, they failed.
Of course, I’m no art expert and it may well be that Kelly just didn’t put his best foot forward, but I really do think it was the inkers and colorist that make it look so… cheap?
