Fantasy-Magneto’s outfit: not all that different from Normal-Magneto’s outfit. That reflects well on both of them. (Wolverine: Rahne of Terra)

Until I saw this “As Mentioned” I’d forgotten just how… umm… beneath-even-peasant-level the peasant garb is amongst the populace of Geshem. Burlap and sackcloth is one thing, but Doug The Peasant ™ seems to be wearing something between a monks habit, a ball gown and an actual sack, which doesn’t even seem practical. (and his mother is wearing a matching outfit, but her’s has a hood too, which doesn’t improve the ensemble much)
I know they’re supposed to be dirt poor, but seeing what the gentry are wearing, I am left hoping that one of Queen Rahne’s first orders is some sort of better quality of workwear amongst her subjects.
Thanks for covering this. I never knew this issue existed but I will track it down now as it seems cool and I loved the NM
BTW, anyone prefer Adam Kubert over Andy?
Technically, Judgment War was collected in Essential X-Factor v3. But then, it’s B&W newsprint, and probably out of print by now. Still, I cherish my copy.
(I’m glad that we got the whole of pre-90s relaunch X-Men & X-Factor just before Marvel scrapped the program. Shame we never got New Mutants too, but I understand why it wasn’t practical with the Bill S. artwork.)
Rahne of Terra was reprinted in 2014’s ‘Wolverine by Larry Hama & Marc Silvestri Volume 2’ (ironically, since it was by neither creator. The actual Hama and Silvestri issues in the trade are great too.) Once Peter David takes over X-Factor (on one of the best X-runs of all time), the Rahne puns just keep on coming, most memorably with Rahne’s World, Rahne Man, and Rahne and Simpy.
