Didn’t the Phoenix Five take over the entire planet, rule it tyrannically, execute whomever they saw fit, and in the end cause mass destruction that must have killed hundreds if not thousands of people? I ask because I don’t have the miniseries to actually consult, and though I remember all of that happening, the only thing anyone ever brings up in the comics now is “you killed that one dude after you went Dark Phoenix.” Was everything just a lot rosier than I recall?
On the other hand, Jean and the rest had no way of knowing what would happen with the Phoenix when the first ran into it. By the time Dark Phoenix rolled around, they *were* ready to kill her if necessary. Scott doesn’t get to claim ignorance, here. He knew full well what the Phoenix force does; he’s seen it several times. He not only welcomed it, but actively fought against people trying to stop it from coming. He may not be the Magneto to their Prof X, but he doesn’t get to pretend that he was a helpless rube or that the rest of them should be standing beside him.
