Be prepared.
X-Men #141, the first issue of “Days of Future Past,” has one of the most frequently referenced covers in all of X-Men. (Fun fact: We almost went with this one for the podcast cover art.)
For once, they’re not kidding.
Gravestone standards have slipped somewhat in this future.
The All-Old, Mostly-Not-That-Different X-Men of “Days of Future Past.”
Kitty Pryde vs. the Danger Room.
Kate Pryde vs. time travel.
Kate Pryde X-Plains the future.
Why would you dress like this for a congressional hearing, Angel? What is WRONG with you?
The All-New, Mostly-Different Brotherhood of Evil Mutants!
Rick Redfern and Joan Caucus of Doonesbury cameo in X-Men #142, to our eternal delight.
Splinter timelines are a bitch.
Even Excalibur–the team built around Multiverse hijinks–can’t quite figure out how this stuff works.
Earth 200500: definitely the best timeline.
We generally like Emma Frost, but she is so boring in X-Men: First Class that we literally forgot she was in the movie.
NOT A WOLF.
Next week: Greg Rucka, Cyclops, and the Starjammers!

Hey guys, I love your podcast. It has quickly become one of my favorites. I was just curious, where do I go to submit questions for you to answer at the end of the show?
You can drop them into the blog comments here, tweet them to @RaeBeta with the hashtag #xplainthexmen, or stick ’em in our tumblr askbox.
Miles “Lucky Bird Bones” Stokes
Rachel “SIKE” Edidin
I’m signing all my checks that way going forward!
Digging the show. Love getting people caught up and knowledgable on the topic. I am one of those who have always wanted to readX-Men but felt to daunted by it all. My only question would be what are the X books right now to best jump on and read?
I saw a post on tumblr the other day by someone else answering a similar question: http://xcyclopswasrightx.tumblr.com/post/86247171427/soooooo-last-x-men-comic-i-read-was-whedons-first-12
Current ones? Probably All-New X-Men and Uncanny X-Men. Start at the beginning of a story arc (Part 1 of…) and you should be good!
My advice, though: at the end of our first episode, we talk about good jumping-on points in general, not just stuff that’s currently on the shelves. If you’ve never read X-Men, I’d recommend one of those instead.
I hope you spend an episode re-visiting the DoFP movie now that it’s out and after you’ve both had a chance to see it. I think it retcons away the original trilogy, plus big chunks of the two Wolverine movies. I’ll take the positives of X3 and Origins being largely gone even if it means losing X1 and X2 – they can revisit that stuff and Wolverine’s adamantium in future movies with a new cast if they want.
Question – given Marvel’s decision to make a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, do you think the chances of the Starjammers or Brood ever being on screen have improved infinitesimally? I just assumed those two groups of characters and story arcs would be untouchable for movies. But if Rocket Raccoon is on screen, all bets are off.
We will eventually, but we’ll probably give it a while, because, spoilers. If you don’t feel like waiting that long, I reviewed it for Wired this week.
Hey Rachel and Miles! Love the podcast. I got caught up in X-Fever in the 90’s, largely thanks to the Fox cartoon and trading cards. I even had Night of the Sentinels on VHS from Pizza Hut haha.
Anyways, I just wanted to say thanks for making this podcast. I don’t have a single X-book on my pull list but I’m going to add All New X-Men (and get the back issues). I’m also going to hunt down copies of Season 1 and Deadly Genesis. You guys have made me X-cited about X-Men again haha.
It’s so ironic, I’ve decided to listen to all of your older episodes and I had just rewatched DoFP AND picked up Years of Future past 1-3 from the comic shop right before I put this one on… I love that movie as well as the original story.
